Lady Chatterley’s Lover

The company’s second adaptation was a critical and commercial success at the Edinburgh Festival and then on its transfer to London’s Bush Hall. Lawrence’s novel was updated to the time of the miner’s strike in 1984 giving it an added political dimension whilst not avoiding the sexual content of the original.

Withnail And I

Production date: October 2005

As a rather more light hearted companion piece to ‘Bent’, this was Kangaroo Court’s first attempt at adapting existing material. Bruce Robinson’s film was faithfully reproduced using video, live music, and a set consisting mainly of beer bottles.

Bent

Production date: October 2005

Martin Sherman’s play examines the relationship between two gay inmates in a Nazi concentration camp. It is famous for the scene in which the two prisoners make love without physically touching.

Sexual Perversity In Chicago / Closer

Production date: May 2005

At the time this was probably the company’s most ambitious project. A double bill of two plays dealing with relationships, both performed by the same cast and on the same night. Again the pieces were accompanied by an original live score by Alan Stacey and Simon Jones.
